Hey, guys.

[His voice sounded weary but oddly content and calm. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he was starting to understand something.]

I was thinking about something, actually. A couple of somethings. It's getting to be winter and, by my count, there's going to be a few holidays coming up for many of us. I know not all of us celebrates them the same way...but, at the same time, many of us can't celebrate them as we used to. We don't have the same traditions around here, or the same people.

...What I thought I would do was try to arrange a fun get-together in a few weeks for people who just want to relax and have some fun. There won't be any rules or ties to tradition, but there will be people. Tis the season to be with people you like, right?

[At this point he pauses to throw on a filter, just to tease someone:]

My other thought was to throw a surprise party for my girl. Mine Fujiko, for those who know her. It doesn't need to be anything big or fancy, but I want it to be special. She's been here for a long time.

I'm still trying to figure out how we're doing the food and finding our venue, but I'd love to hear any ideas that you guys have. Cake should be involved here. Seriously. Otherwise, I'm completely open to any idea.

[While the sun is still out, Lupin decided to head out into the town to check for some better winter gear in the various shops. He's not picky. Later on he can be found enjoying a hot drink at the bakery before he returns back to his apartment in Community House 1. He is keeping an eye out for both Grell and Gambit during this time.

[He's not going to question her skills. She is the one who makes treats for the draftees to enjoy on their return, and she does know how to make some damn good cocoa.]

Oh, is it? [There's a noticeable uptick in enthusiasm in her voice at that.]

Then I'll do my best to make it as pretty as I can!

I'm very happy I can help. Fujiko is such a nice person, isn't she?

[Her joy is clearly audible through the feed, and it warmed him more than a whiskey on a cold winter's night.]

She is a very nice person, Grune-chan. And she's very important to me. I'd like this party to be special for her, since she's been here for a long time.

[Now, Lupin is very lucky in one regard: for the longest time, Grune had had the mistaken impression that he and Adele were married. It was his own fault, really--by joking with Haruhi at the pageant, he'd managed to convince her, and she in turn had managed to convince Grune that this was true. Grune had happily worked under this misunderstanding until the amnesia experiment, where she had so helpfully shared this information with Adele.

Presumably, Adele corrected that misinformation once the experiment was over. Which is good--except for the fact that Grune, shipper that she is, is now getting another impression entirely.]

Arsene, is Fujiko your special someone?

[That earned a soft laugh. His joke to Haruhi was meant to be a long term prank that, unfortunately, came to fruition at the worst time. Recent months had been tense, but Lupin was starting to put everything behind him and focus on what was important.

She's one of my good friends from home; no one can replace her.

[Grune accepts that for the moment--but give her a chance to see the two of them together in one of their on-again moments and she'll probably start to wonder.]

Family is very special, isn't it?

[Oh, if only Grune knew...]

It is, but Fujiko is a little more special than family for me. We've only got eachother left.

[She sounds a little surprised.]
