9th Turn [Semi-accidental Video/Action]
[His head hurt.
It was the first problem that Lupin noticed when he awoke in the woods that afternoon, clad only in the pale New Feather garb that all Lucetian’s are granted upon arrival. The sun was too bright and his head hurt, but it was nothing like all of those jobs where he faced everything from bullets to nuclear materials in crystalline form. Simple pain like this was something to be dealt with at a later time, when there was a moment to think and breathe. He had something more important to check on.
Or a group of someones. The thief sat up with the limber energy of a gymnast—and regretted it. The world seemed to shift without his consent and refused to stabilize despite his willing it to do so. He gritted his teeth and pulled himself up; it was just vertigo, probably from being still for too long…
Dealing with a little light headedness was nothing like his stint Cagliostro, both the first and the second time. At least he didn’t need to worry about Fujiko laughing at him. He took one step, two, digging his fingers into the rough bark of the trees for support as he fought against his vision hazing in and out with the vertigo. It was just from being out for too long. A few more steps and he’d--

--collapse into the earth’s embrace.
Lupin stared dumbfounded at the canopy for a breath. He burst into laughter when everything clicked into place.]
That’s right. I died.
[In the facility, with the others. Pops and Fujiko and Adele all told him that this could happen. Hell, he knew it from the outset during that midnight meeting in what should have been the Alps. It was a risk he willingly took, along with the moral implications and responsibilities. No regrets.
It just made life a great deal more complicated.
Death was cheap, however. He didn’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a satin-lined hardwood casket with white lilies piled on top for posterity. A little dizziness was an excellent trade off. Still choking back childish giggles at the absurdity of the situation, Lupin forces himself to sit up again and fight the rolling haze long enough to locate his journal. He gratefully collapsed back into the dirt once he had it in hand, and was doubly grateful when the realization struck that he was fine if he just stayed still. Any little motion sent his mind spinning, but he could think straight if he just stayed and stared up at the canopy.]
[The feed was thrown on without a glance, suddenly treating the residents of the enclosure to a blindingly bright view of the forest from below. The thief himself was not aware if the feed was audio or video—nor did he care. No filters were added, lest he risk another wave of vertigo with just the act of sitting up. It was too much of a bother, especially when the sky was so blue.
Let other people worry about that for now.]
Hey, Lu-ce-ti~ [His tone was oddly humorous and light, with his suppressed laughter hiding just behind his words.] I’m back. [And alive.]
Can anyone around here spare a smoke? Not menthol and filtered, that’s all I want. Oh, and a light.
…who wants to go fishing?
((ooc: Nothing on this post is filtered and nothing will be filtered unless other characters put them up. Work under the assumption that everything said in this post via the journals is fully readable to everyone unless it is filtered, and threadjack away if you wish. The actual act of picking Lupin up from the woods is locked to Luke Skywalker, though further action may take place around Community House 5 or the Battle Dome. For those with the lie-detect ability or something similar, you are thus warned that most things Lupin will say on non-filtered conversations is a complete lie.
With that noted, have at.))

[And because of all those emotions she can't choose from, because she doesn't know what to do about him, about how she feels, about Luceti, the Malnosso, death, the jedi and everything in between, she leaves him stewing a bit and then speaks up on journal, not trusting herself to do it in person first. She should see him in person but oh well. Betraying him was nothing new.]
I saved some Gitanes for you and I have a fishing pole... if you're up to it. I could work on my tan. [She spent days wanting to cry, but like hell she'll show it now. Business and play as usual.]

[She was the exact woman that he wanted to see, and the one he hesitated the most about. Once they dropped the fronts, sparks as deadly as any bullet would fly, and he wasn't sure that he had the stamina for that under the circumstances. He reached for the book and held it above him, hoping that they could get a good solid look at each other--playing, gauging the opponent.
It was the same dangerous game they always played. Lupin just wanted to pull her into his arms and forget the world.
Instead, he tries to offer a smile. Even half naked and in the dirt, he could play.]
Can't believe that you actually found some, Fujiko. I was starting to lose hope of ever seeing them here. We can go fishing any time...but not now.
...
How open is the floor?
[Locked: 90%]
And I was saving the cigarettes for a special occasion. What's up Lupin? [Hugs her knees close to her. It was hard to keep up the blase facade even now, but so much harder with the lock up. She had reasons to keep it up around just Lupin, but with just him, she also had reasons to drop it altogether.]
[Locked: 90%]
[He did, truly, and he loved how he could say so much with so few words with her. It made life just a little easier, even if Fujiko herself was the source of his greatest conflicts as well as his greatest love. Tempting as it was to just explain what happened, he didn't want to alarm her. But her finding out was an inevitably--
It was best to take it slow.]
Fujiko. Stuff...really bad stuff...went down a week or so ago.
[It lacked the finesse that he sought, but it was out. For better or worse, the stage was set for their dance.]
[Locked: 90%]
[Her first move in their tango. Of course she'd noticed. After spending a full year without him, she noticed when he would be gone just a couple of days on a mission. There wasn't a lot that could keep Lupin away. But if he was here now... then the rumors were true about those drafts and the people coming back from them.]
[Still she wanted curl up even more and just cry. Stupid Lupin, stupid Lupin, she could have tried harder to stop him at least. Then she could be more angry at him for now listening instead of just this.]
[She wonders idly if he'll just bluff that he was "only" kidnapped, just tortured or something as if that would be better. Your steps now Lupin.]
[Locked: 90%]
He'd make it up to her, somehow. He would find a way. For now...]
You've been here for far longer than I have, babe. You know what that means.
[Did he really have to say it to her, of all people?]
[Locked: 90%]
[The tone is far more desperate and sad than she would have liked. Needy of all things, and she bites her bottom lip, chewing back her own tears.]
Did they make you forget anything? [That's the usual price from what she's heard, and the biggest reason she's so terrified of it. She'll never let that happen to her again. Not again.]
[Locked: 90%]
Fujiko should never have to cry like this.
It took an effort, but he manages a light laugh--an attempt at a verbal hug. That was all he could do.]
My memory is fine, but I'm having a hard time standing right now...
Luke is coming to pick me up, and we're going to see Mister Law for a check over to see what the problem is.
[Locked: 90%]
When can I come see you then? The soonest hour. [She will come in nurse uniform and bring him stick puzzles to keep him busy.]
[Locked: 90%]
How about I call you? We can drink champagne and watch movies.
[Locked: 90%]
So long as the nurse and doctor don't mind. And if they do, I'll sneak in through a window. Same thing if Law doesn't let you go, okay? [Normally she'd leave a window open for Lupin, so it seemed fun to switch it up like this for once.]
[Locked: 90%]
[He laughed for real this time, amused by this turn. As always, Fujiko was the one he could rely on through thick and thin, no matter how much she protested of worked against him.]

The temptation would be too great for this poor, battered body of mine to handle--I think I would die!
[Locked: 90%]
Pity~ Is there anything I can wear that won't awaken the wild wolf in you?
[Locked: 90%]
[Locked: 90%]
Fortunately my nurse uniform is very breezy. Unfortunately for you, you might die if your hands get too much in it. Keep that in mind before you start groping any of the nurses darling~
[Especially if they're not her. Yeah.]
[Locked: 90%]
[Besides, he didn't want to bother with other women at that point in time. He just wanted his friends, and his Fujiko.]
...I promise not to get too handsy if you promise not to bring out that giant syringe again.
[Locked: 90%]
Deal.
[She won't tell him it's part of her arsenal she couldn't find in Luceti. Let's just keep that one in the closet, even if he already knows.]
Should I still bring over the Gitanes or will they just catch on if I do?
[Locked: 90%]
Go ahead and bring 'em. I don't think they'll care if I slip outside to have a couple. [He could almost taste them in his anticipation. The last time he had his Gitanes seemed so long ago.]
[Locked: 90%]
Anything else I should get?
