Smoker was right--while the two situations were very similar, there was enough of a difference between their worlds that there was almost no way to adequately compare the two. Lupin was starting to piece together who was whom in Smoker's world just by their conversations, and was even beginning to figure out who was allied with whom within the confines of Luceti. What he saw gave him enough of an impression that he himself would do fantastically well in that world, but the differences were stark, and enough to make him have doubts.
