6th Turn [Voice/Action]

[It's mid-afternoon when the journal post is made by a familiar voice in an unfamiliar mood. A quick look at the image reveals a face that is both familiar and unfamiliar--but that smile, with it's odd curl and suppressed mirth, can mean it is only one person.]

[Failed Filter to Mine Fujiko: Completely Readable]

Hey...Fujiko? Remember that game you gave me at the end of the last month before you went on your mission? It was very clever, and the prize has been a joy. How did you know I liked history books? I'm wondering, though...why are you having me read about your ex-boyfriend's grandfather, after you made it clear that you don't want to think about it?

[There's a pause as the man notices the feed.] Oh... blast it! I messed, Fujiko. Want to meet in my place?

...Everyone, disregard that.

[Later that day the man wanders the town, his hair in a mussed disarray and red jacket noticeably missing. Instead he wears dark colors, fitted but more casual clothes, and his wings are for once in the open. He's headed to the library to return some books, gather others and other supplies. Early that evening, another journal post is made. This time, it's intended for anyone.]

Evening, Luceti, this is Red. I was just wondering...is anyone else around here missing about twenty-one hours of their weekend? Does anybody who isn't know what happened? It's just a question for inquiring minds.

Also--has anybody actually given the Battle Dome a good once over after last week?

[He's serious in his words, even if the smile is light. Ladies and Gentleman, meet the man who's going to be adamant about calling himself Red...someone you're more likely to know as Arsene Lupin III. He's not going to stand down from that either.]

[Red? Yoh stares a bit confused to the journal, he's sure to recognize the voice but the name and the appearance don't really match. It doesn't really matter either way, he's addressing to something Yoh himself has noticed.]

I don't really remember much of anything that happened yesterday. I thought I may had spent the whole day sleeping or something.

[He laughs a bit.]

[His laughter joins Yoh's.] That's not a bad way to spend a day, honestly! I probably did the same, but it doesn't really feel like I'm that rested.

...how are you adapting anyway, Yoh? Find all of your belongings?

Yeah, I still feel kind of sleepy and all. But then again I do like to sleep and relax a lot so that's pretty normal.

[Laughing again. He pauses, though, as his name is called. The voice and knowing his name, the only person he has talked to before with that voice was Lupin, but the looks and the name... Then again, they said strange things like this happen in the village more often than what one would think so...]

There are a few things missing, but the most important ones are now all with me already. I'm adapting quite well so far, found a place and a friend from my world.

[Having Sonic here makes things easier, even if Amidamaru's situation is so... Strange.]

After only a week? That's really impressive!

[His luck hadn't been too much worse. After all, a good friend from his world was dropped in only days before, and the Community House he chose to live in had a lot of cool, friendly people. It made his time more interesting, and more bearable during the weeks between shifts.

Speaking of which...]

Has there been any more news on the offer from Bil to go to your own or another's world for a day? That was supposed to be happening around now.

Is it? I think I may have been taking it too easily, maybe. But I prefer it that way.

[Laughing again. The question is met with a humming sound, honestly, Yoh hadn't heard much about that, he wasn't around yet when the offer was made first and only heard about it from people talking about it. As much as he wants so return home, he's not sure he wants to do so for only a day, things are pretty calm from what he knows, but he also knows it would probably get ugly pretty soon if they aren't lucky. That would only make him more worried once back here again.]

I have no idea, I haven't heard anyone mention anything about it beyond the usual questions of who would take it and where they would go. Are you going to take it?

There's no such thing as taking it too easily. It's probably better, actually.

...I don't think I'll take the opportunity, actually. A day back home isn't worth it if I'll just get pulled back here and have all of my work undone. I'd rather try to find a different method, honestly.

Yeah, I'm not interested either. Things weren't particularly bad back home when I left, but I can't say it would hold like that even if it's only one day. So I would prefer to avoid the problems of having to actually worry about things back there.

[It's easier to not worry when he has no reasons to actively do so after all. It makes things here easier to deal with.]

And I don't really think that going to someone else's world for a tour is a good idea either. Even if I understand why some people may be curious.

Oh, so we agree on both points better. I have to wonder about how many other people do, because a lot of people were interested during Bil's initial post about a month ago.

There's going to be a lot of people hurting if it happens, but there's probably nothing we can do to stop it.

People don't tend to think about those things in the long term. Many of them most likely thought that going back home even for a little bit would make things easier to deal with here, you know, get rid of the nostalgia. Or maybe of something that worried them, we may have been lucky to have not left anything that was urgent at home but not everyone can say the same, I'm sure of that. Probably they think that if they know more about what would happen they would rest better in this place. And of course many people probably don't think that bringing an outsider to the situation won't do any harm, to their world, themselves or the other person.

[It's a really foolish way of thinking, one that focuses only in the short term. But humans have always been that way, for them even just to think about five years from now is something hard and difficult. Much less to think about five hundred of years... Same with the past. If only he could say that it's because their minds are too full with the present to worry about the future or the past, but that's not it either because many just blind themselves to the present itself because they don't like it. But rather than do anything about it it's just easier to go along the flow and not think about anything.

Of course not all humans were like that but... It's true, for one lonely human it's impossible to change the world. So it doesn't matter if a couple or so are different.]

I just hope that whenever it happens, if it does, people won't end regretting it all. We have enough to deal with as it is by just being here. Even if things will eventually pass and get back to be fine, something as big as that sounds as if it's going to give many problems.

We shouldn't need to worry about people regretting what comes about from the trip, if it does end up happening. I've been here for a few New Feather seasons now, and the one thing I've noticed is that the people who arrive tend to be adaptable on some level, or that they find a niche that helps them feel comfortable. Lots of people have made friends here as well, and they would do anything to stay with those friends if they could.

[The variety of individuals and experiences, the possibility of friendships that would be impossible otherwise, was one of the truly beautiful things about Luceti. Red, himself, would never have met Adele otherwise, even if they were from the same universe and likely lived at the same time for a short while--their respective circumstances were too different, and he didn't regret their oddly close friendship. A small part of him even hoped it could blossom into something more, but he had a suspicion that this, like all of his prior loves, wasn't going to be possible.]

What you're saying is entirely possible, that people just want something to ease their nostalgia or to make them feel better about the situations at their home, or that they are short sighted enough to believe that not even a day can make a difference to their situations both here and at home, but that doesn't make it right. Bil is tampering with the hopes and dreams of many, many people here.

It's a crime. But the fault in this case isn't entirely his, it's not as if he's forcing us to choose or to do it. He offers the chance and people take it, they let him play with them. You can say that he shouldn't do it in the first place but... It's probably what he does and why he's here for. This isn't like when someone breaks into your house to steal from you, he rings the door, asks to enter and doesn't even bother to hide that most probably he will take things from the house if he's allowed in. In that aspect it's the fault of those who let him in that they get robbed in the first place.

"I was fooled" and similar are just excuses to not accept that they have even one ounce of responsibility on it.

[Always put the blame on others, never accept even a shared blame.]

That doesn't mean he's free of blame, of course.

You're very wise and very mature for someone so young. I do know these things, in honesty, but I've spent most of the passed decade fighting against people who have openly done similar and worse. It's a concept that bothers me, in honesty.

[He sighs at this, oddly calm even in his irritation.] I also know that there's nothing I can do about it if it does happen, and that the best course of action is to wait and see what happens. Knowing that doen't make it any easier, though.

I guess it's because I'm used to listen to people who are very wise and mature due their age.

[Even though some of them were spirits of young people, they still had been around for many years and were able to look at the world with a different perception.]

I didn't mean to say we don't have to fight him or anything. After all, they are still the ones who put us all in here and who use us as guinea pigs. None of that was done with any of our permission, it's just that that particular matter would be a shared blame at most. His for offering it, and the people's for taking the offering despite knowing they shouldn't trust them.

[Yoh smiles a bit at the last words and he replies with a calm and serene voice, firm and confident but soft and humble at the same time.]

Life isn't meant to be easy. But we also know that everything will be alright sooner or later. We just have to be patient and strong.

[Patience and strength. Recent years had introduced him to many, many people who's focus in life was learning patience and strength, among other things. They were essential traits for anyone to train in the Force--being around those individuals, learning from their example, had helped him calm from the constant unfocused energy that dominated his life and decisions during his youth.

Red returns the smile with a small chuckle.] Thanks. I knew all of that before, but recent events and the quiet of this place has been starting to get to me. We're rebuilding a society after a time of war, where I'm from, and we're still fighting cells of loyalists to the old regime. There's always something happening, compared to here.

Fortunately, I have some friends around that are good at being patient and strong. It looks like I have that to work on too, for the time being.

[Yoh laughs a bit.]

I'm sorry for repeating what you already know then. But it's easy to forget those things, far too easy, so I don't think it's totally wrong to be reminded of them from time to time. Unless you have been told that already today, in which case I'm really sorry for hammering it again.

[He laughs sheepishly. There's also the fact that not many humans know about that or understand it even, much less are capable of putting it to practice. But he doesn't say that.]

I see, it must be specially frustrating to be in a world with minimal change if any at all, when you're from one that is currently in the middle of a big change. If it serves for anything I think you're dealing with it quite well.

[There are always worse ways to deal with those things after all.]

It's fine, you did nothing wrong! In fact, I think I need to go tell this to my Paragon of Patience and Strength sometime today--people that don't know him as well probably can't tell, but he is getting a little impatient himself.

But thanks. This place is peaceful, and makes for an okay vacation spot, but I'm starting to miss my work. Life without a purpose is a little unfulfilling.

[He laughs again.]

It's hard to remain patient after a long time after all. For humans time passes way too quickly to be able to think that they have time to sit and wait.

[It's different for shamans, or for some of them at least. It doesn't mean they aren't impatient but they understand that their time is quite more than what it seems. Even if they can't achieve their dreams with their own hands in the one life they have, they can always stay after death and help the new generations.]

That's true, though. Life without purpose is just the same as being dead and in paradise. No matter how good paradise is, without a sense of moving forward and while feeling you have things left to do, no paradise is enough.

[Which is why he will never be able to surrender to Hao or agree with him.]

You're right and right again, Yoh. It's why I'm thinking I'll take advantage of this little bit of chaos and do some investigating down at the Dome. [After all, what better time to find out more about the enclosure and the Malnosso when there might be some kind of experiment all ready in progress?]

Even if it's useless, I feel like I should at least try. The data isn't just going to come to us unless we make the right preparations and take the proper steps. It might be nothing. Or, it might be something that could be useful later.

That sounds like a great idea, with everything that happened it wouldn't be strange if people overlooked something back then. Coming back to investigate more at the place may bring up something important. Everything tends to have a different light on it when looking back at it, after all.

[With enough time, something that caused pain and sadness may be seen as something that, even if sad, was necessary and brought better things around. The wars that were oh-so-important and in which people died for their nations are proved to have been nothing but tragedies and acts of foolishness. The music, the art that once was laughed at is seen as the work of a genius.]

Even if nothing comes up this time it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep investigating it from time to time. After all, that man was hiding there, it probably won't be easy but something may be found eventually.

Exactly. That's my thought on the matter too. [Even if he had to do it himself, a little bit at a time, eventually something of value might be uncovered.] Sometimes a little piece fo junk can become extremely valuable when viewed under the right circumstances.

And if not there's always the chance that all it takes is just another person looking at it, after all not everyone sees the same things when looking at something. I'm sure that you will be able to find something of value sooner or later.

It may be of little use, but I would be fine with helping you if you ever needed or wanted some company with it.

[He doesn't impose himself, he doesn't either fully offer help. If he's asked he will go if not he won't go neither mind it, that's the way Yoh works after all.]

[He wouldn't want to impose, but...]

Thanks. I'll remember that. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can be very helpful in getting a better idea of the situation.

With my age and time being here I'm sure I'm pretty fresh myself.

[Laughing a bit at the bad joke.]

You and a lot of other people! [He joins in the laughter.] Seriously, though? I probably wouldn't ask over half of them. You have a brain in that head of yours--I'll remember that offer.
